These are Totem Poles that were created by students in Mrs. Lydon's 5th grade Social Studies classes after a unit on Native Americans. Each student used craft supplies and a cardboard tube to design a personal totem pole to represent their interests. The totems were taped to a cabinet in the computer lab by our student AV team and 8th grader, Tom, took the gigapan. Mrs. Poerio, computer teacher, stitched and uploaded the image in the computer lab and students typed their descriptions in a MS Word document during computer lab time. Mrs. Poerio copied and pasted their descriptions after creating a snapshot of each of their totems. This was a great cross curricular activity. (This was the second year for this gigapan project.)
