VEX Robotics has students construct a robot that starts out no larger than 18"x18"x18" and participates in a two on two competition. This year the competition was called "Gateway" and involved getting spheres and cylinders into any of a series of increasingly tall goals.
This panorama, with all the partial people! (LOTS of movement) was taken at the East Hawaii Regional competition at Waiakea High School Cafeteria.
32 teams were present from the Big Island, Maui and Oahu. With two competition fields, it was non-stop chaos and competition. The stress of breakdowns and malfunctions, the joy of finally getting things to work again, the sharing of ideas, parts, and companionship was a wonderful craziness.
