GigaPan Epic 100
This is a 360 degree panorama taken on the morning of Friday, September 23, 2011. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the area for a joint project of several cooperating agencies working together to address the issues of flooding in Putnam County.
Putnam County, West Virginia is located between two of West Virginia’s larger cities of Charleston and Huntington. Putnam County is named for Revolutionary War General Israel Putnam.
According to the 2010 US Census Putnam County has over 55,000 residents. The towns of Bancroft, Buffalo, Eleanor, Hurricane, Nitro, Poca and Winfield (county seat) are in Putnam County.
This site is in Buffalo, West Virginia and is one of two waste treatment facilities that serves the town of Buffalo. The other facility treats waste from the schools and the Toyota Manufacturing Plant nearby.
Buffalo was the site of numerous Native American villages for over 10,000 years. Many artifacts collected in the area provide evidence of the importance of the wide fertile river valley to indigenous people of the area.
