Description

This was originally intended to be an entire shot of the inner courtyard, but museum security pounced on me midway through. I had thought they objected to using my tripod on one of the railings, so I moved to the ground floor to try again. However, they stopped me once more saying I couldn't use a tripod. So I removed the tripod and put my gigapan on the ground . . . and they stopped my again, saying that all pictures needed to be done by hand -- no machine assistance. I can understand why they'd want to control high resolution imagery (for security or the chance to monetize their own photography). However, it was still a little disappointing.

It's a fantastic place to visit. The map room alone is an astonishing reminder of when Venice was most powerful nation in the world.
