A second attempt at taking a shot of the crater at Masaya -- although there are a lot of problems with this image (mostly with missing images) I still had to upload it because the good parts are really good! The problem with doing the gigapan basically boiled down to so many people asking me what I was doing that I wasn't able to track the progress closely enough to catch many photos that didn't shoot in time. But I think the image still captures some of the majesty of the main crater. In putting the picture together, I paid a great deal of attention to the details of the geological formations; taking the gigapan led me to get to know the crater in a way that I never had during many visits over the last 15 years. And, while I was working on this, Arnulfo found an emballonurid bat roost! I still aim to catch a really great one, perfect, someday!
