Anthony's Nose stands as a sentinel opposite Bear Mountain (from which this panorama was shot). The Bear Mountain Bridge spans the Hudson River at the narrow point between these two outcroppings of Precambrian granitic gneiss in the Hudson Highlands. Ice Age glaciers covered this entire region and gouged the fjord that is now flooded by the Hudson River.
