Thanks for reminding me that the 'a' is totally spurious and wrong. I can't remember the source of this info though - probably Stephen Fry on QI. Anyway, I got the info from www.achurchnearyou.com/bath-widcom be-st-thomas-a-becket

His name is Thomas Becket of course, there is no 'à' - is that how its signposted?
