Ghost Ranch is a retreat, education, and conference center located near Abiquiu, New Mexico. The dramatic landscapes of Ghost Ranch were frequent subjects of the American painter Georgia O'Keeffe. She lived on the grounds just on the other side of the "painted" hills in the far left of the picture.
Ghost Ranch is also the site of significant archeology finds. The most recent is the discovery of Daemonosaurus chauliodus which lived 205 million years ago, making it a missing link between the oldest known dinosaurs of the Late Triassic and later more advanced dinosaurs.
This gigapan was taken in the full sun on a very hot summer day, August 1, 2009.
