View of the green roof segment of the bird sanctuary from the observatory platform. This section of the sanctuary is usually closed off to foot traffic for the safety of nesting birds and to prevent the young plants from being trampled. A burn was conducted here at the end of March; in our earlier GigaPan taken on April 16, the ground is almost completely bare with only a few shoots peeking through. In just a month, the difference is remarkable. By the end of the summer, some of these prairie plants growing in the two feet of soil above the parking garage will reach 8 feet.
