Plaza Francia de Altamira

En el Municipio Chacao con el Ávila como telón de fondo, está ubicada La Plaza Francia, antiguamente conocida como la Plaza Altamira, fue construida en los años 40 por el conocido urbanista Luis Roche, cuando se inició el desarrollo urbanístico de esta zona. Sus elementos más relevantes son el obelisco y el espejo de agua, éste último convertido en una fuente que rebosa hacia la estación del Metro.
Podríamos decir que es el centro del este caraqueño. Es lugar de encuentro de niños, jóvenes y adultos tanto de día como de noche. Su obelisco es ícono de la ciudad.
Al oeste de la plaza está Filipo un vendedor de perros calientes quien está allí desde hace mas de 33 años. Desde aquí se puede caminar a Los Palos Grandes, uno de los distritos gastronómicos de la ciudad, a Chacao una tradicional zona de inmigrantes europeos y a la Castellana con sus bares y restaurantes.
Es la zona más recomendada para hospedarse en la ciudad: Seguridad, facilidad de traslados son los mejores argumentos para esta afirmación.
En su seno está instalado un anfiteatro para conducir eventos culturales y musicales. Es el lugar de la celebración tradicional de fin de año, concurriendo a ella centenares de ciudadanos a darse el afectuoso abrazo.

The Plaza Francia, is in the Municipality of Chacao, with the Avila mountain in the background, formerly know as the Plaza Altamira, was built in the 40's by the renowned urban planner Luis Roche, when urban development began in this area. Its most important are the obelisk and the mirror of water, the latter turned into a fountain that overflows to the Metro station.
We could say that this is the center of Caracas´s East. It is a meeting place for children, youth and adults both day and night. Its Obelisk is an icon of the city. West of the square is Philip a hot dog vendor who is there for more than 33 years. From here you can walk to Los Palos Grandes a gastronomic district of the city, to Chacao a traditional area of European immigrants and the Castellana with its bars and restaurants.
It is the most recommended place to stay in the city safety, ease of transfers are the best arguments for this claim. At its heart is installed an amphitheater for cultural events and music conducting. It is the place of the traditional celebration of new year, attending hundreds of her citizens to give the affectionate embrace.
