Description

Taken in May 2007, this is a typical vineyard view in Tuscany, with an ancient hilltop town, Panzano in Chianti, in the distance. The location is about halfway between Florence and Siena in the Chianti wine-making region of Tuscany on highway #222. This is also a geocache site, keyword "Panzano Vineyards" (waypoint code GCQ2BF). Geocaching is an international game which uses GPS co-ordinates to lead players to interesting views or favourite places on the globe. The geocache container was hidden, in this case, behind a stone in the wall on the right. This vineyard is south of Panzano on the highway from Castellini in Chianti. Down the gravel road is a heritage chapel, the Oratory of Saint Euphrosynus (Sant'Eufrosino), which was built in the Middle Ages and re-built in 1441.
