I have a print of this up at my show at Hemphill Fine Arts in Washington, D.C.
right now (April 9- June 4, 2011.) It is 85 x 103.5 inches, printed out on PhotoTex, a peel-off, stick-on substrate.
The picture is a GigaPan made outside of Middleburg, Virginia, September 16, 2010.
I started the GigaPan after the light started looking good. The trouble was that
the light just got more and more interesting, so I started shooting (by hand with
a second camera) the parts that had been shot earlier with the Gigapan (which was
still working away). Did a lot of mixing in of the shot-by-hand stuff later in
Photoshop. Some very obvious joins, which I like-- shows how it was made. Note the airplane (taking off from Dulles Airport to the east I think) just above the trees on the ridge towards the left.
