- Description
-
This a view looking south along the northern coast Chile approximately 80km south of Arica. This area was inhabited by the Chinchorro approximately 7,000 years ago. They utilized the reeds growing at the mouth of the river for weaving mats and incorporating into their mortuary process. The alluvium rich coastline to the left of the sea cave contains abundant evidence for occupation; reed mats, broken shells, and numerous types of bones.
