The Portland Timbers rolled past Chicago 4-2 in their first MLS home game in front of 18,627 at sold-out Jeld-Wen Field Thursday night. The constant rain that started hours before the game did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd, which was sent into a fever pitch with the pregame ceremonies that included fireworks, giant banners and the Timbers Army singing the national anthem.Oregonian photographer Bruce Ely - www.bruceely.com
/ - created this Gigapan during the Timbers home opener on April 14, 2011. The image is made up of 612 individual photos taken over a 45-minute span and stitched together to form one large image. The final high resolution picture is 122,832 X 39,472 pixels or 4,848 megapixels. The image is not supposed to represent one moment in the game. There are numerous stitching "errors". These are usually caused by a person that is partially in a picture moving to a different location by the time my camera made another pass.Head to www.oregonlive.com/timbers
