The McCarty's lava flow is located in El Malpais National Monument, near Grants, New Mexico. www.nps.gov/elma/index.htm
The flow is ~3,500 years old and stretches for ~50 km.This is a 360 degree panorama taken from the top of the hydraulic press mound at the "horseshoe site"
Investigation of inflated lava flows helps us to understand similar processes that occur on the Moon and Mars.
