First, it is the memorial of a legendary duel between Abenaki and Iroquois around 1692 and location of the tomb of a woman Abenaki. Then in 1934, to commemorate the fourth centenary of the arrival of Jacques Cartier in Canada, a large metal cross was installed. The city is committed to continuously illuminate the cross. The lone pine that decorated the rocky disappeared, depending on the version, shot in 1913 following a vandalism or destroyed by different weather conditions. A cedar begins to grow at its base.
