110207 - Inselberg Camp, Nouragues Field Station, French Guiana, Sampling on the Petit Plateau (I/XXIII)

Walked to the Petit Plateau (I/XXIII) in 1/2hr. Baits down and traps open at 9:15am. The morning had no rain and was sunny and relatively hot and humid. The GigaPan should be great as it had no problems and caught a parasitoid as well as ants (21X48). The rain started at 1:45pm. Sifting was completed before the start of the rain. No amphibians seen. Spider monkeys were around for a ilttle while. Photos and videos of site taken. Microscope videos of Black Camponotus (to come) and Crematogaster (www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5YJpNoTKMg Will open in a new tab or window) at 3, Gnaptogenys (www.youtube.com/watch?v=dM4gnR_Rjig Will open in a new tab or window) at Bait 4 and red Pheidole at Bait 2 (www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjR0GUnYTDY Will open in a new tab or window). Black Camponotus video is of the same species as was head bobbing on 2/1/2011 in the Liana forest (www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIVawbA9iVI Will open in a new tab or window). Dominant ants were definitely these black Crematogaster and Camponotus.
