Inselberg Camp, Nouragues Field Station, French Guiana, 110201
Liana forest and Grand Plateau (Q18). Lots of detail here in the leaf litter. Check out the fruit fly (www.gigapan.org/gigapans/70677/snapshots/197038/), or the ant I've already found (www.gigapan.org/gigapans/70677/snapshots/197039/). What else is there?
Walked from Camp between 8:10 and 9:20am. Traps open and baid down at ~10-10:30am. Up at 4:00pm. No rain on walk up or at all until 11:30 - and then pretty continuous . Tarp set up was immediate upon arrival. Helicopters arrivaed at 10 and 3pm. GigaPan taken between 3 and 5. Stopped twice due to rain and condensation.
Microscope video of poneromorph colony from stick in ground (www.youtube.com/watch?v=PU7oVM5blGY
). 2 colour morphs of these. Microscope video of 2 Camponotus: Bait 4 was cleaning (www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLJgNlA50dA
) and Bait 5 head jerking (www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIVawbA9iVI
). Videos of site (www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qp2hla4PVs
). Crematogaster and Camponotus were EVERYWHERE. Check out the panorama with Google Earth's browser plug-in: bit.ly/gKuL4K

Beautiful 360 pano of the rain forest. Where can I find the tool for the fullscreen embed of the Google Earth browser plug-in? I primarily shoot 360s like this. May I suggest that you raise the elevation on this placement in Google Earth by a few feet so that the 3D Google Viewer shows the forest floor. It is currently blocked out by the terrain. I would also suggest uploading these 360s to Bing Maps via Photosynth, where it will be available to anyone. Beautiful work. What is the shoot time on this at 4.2 Gigapixels? I rarely take the time to shoot 360s at this res.
