This vertical panorama is taken from the top of the famous "Torre Guinigi" within the walled medieval town of Lucca, Tuscany, Italy. The tower is unique because several oak trees grace its observation platform on the roof. Within Lucca's walls vehicular traffic is strictly controlled, and, with streets so narrow in places, walking around is also the most practical way to get from point A to point B. The massive brick city walls are very broad on top and have enough room for a pedestrian and bicycle path all around the top. Ancient trees shade this walkway and make for a cool and pleasant stroll completely around Lucca, giving fabulous views of the old city within the walls and the new urban areas. In this panorama, as the eye moves up the street towards the mountains, there is a band of large trees between the mountains and the town. Those trees are on top of the wide walls.
