The memorial monument dedicated to Horia Closca and Crisan (west side), Alba Iulia, Romania by Calin Suteu

(EN) | The monument was raised in 1937 from the initiative of the ASTRA Cultural Foundation (Alba) and benefited from public funds; it was meant to commemorate 150 years from the peasant rebelion of 1784 - 1785 and was dedicated to the memory of its three leaders, Horia, Cloşca şi Crişan. The monument is composed from a symbolic cell at the base and a large statue of Nike facing east; facing west and towards the IIIrd gate of the Vauban fortress, with the original prison cell, is a bas-relief depiction of the three martyr leaders. The monument was built in granite and is the work of architect E. Mihălţan and sculptor I. Fekete.

(RO) | Monumentul a fost ridicat în 1937 la iniţiativa Societăţii culturale ASTRA (filiala Alba) şi prin contribuţii publice, fiind închinat memoriei conducătorilor răscoalei de la 1784 - 1785, la aniversarea a 150 de ani. Monumentul este compus dintr-o celulă simbolică aşezată la bază şi o reprezentare a zeiţei Victoria înnaripată, ţinând o cunună de lauri. Pe verso, faţă în faţă cu poarta a III-a a cetăţii şi celula originală se află un basorelief cu cei trei martiri, Horia, Cloşca şi Crişan. A fost realizat din granit, conform proiectului arhitectului E. Mihălţan şi sculptorului I. Fekete.
