    Thanks for the info. I am a little surprised because I assumed equatorial mounts and the like would have been involved. It's good to know you can get enough starlight with only a 15 second exposure (and an f/1.4 lens - gulp). Incidentally, would you care to geocode this cool image? Don't forget to check the "Share with others" box :-)

    I think I was using a Canon 7D with a 24mm F1.4L lens, shooting two rows of 12 images. Not sure of the exposure, but it was probably something like 15 seconds at ISO 800 at F 1.8 or so. I think I used Autopano Giga to stitch it, due to Gigapan stitch's problems in dealing with stars... this is probably why it doesn't show stitching notes. This reminds me that I need to get out there again this winter...
