The Team Liquigas-Cannondale adventure starts today, Monday 10th January, fuelled by a desire to continue on a winning journey that began back in 2005 and produced record results and performances in 2010. The 2011 season will be a new, exciting challenge: the team will never settle for second best, and will always continue to improve and be a leading team on the world cycling scene. «We know that we’re a top team and I’m sure that we will be able to prove this in every race in which we compete» stated president dott. Paolo Dal Lago. «During last six years we excelled on the road obtaining great and clear results: this will be our first goal also for 2011».
For team manager Roberto Amadio «the team has new members and new ambitions for the season that’s about to start, but we still remain true to the spirit behind our sports project. We’re determined to continue to grow and have another year like 2010. Our twenty-nine riders are tasked with producing the best possible performance in every race, from January through to October, to fulfil our ambition of becoming the best team in the world». Liquigas-Cannondale likes the big stage races and this has led to the creation of a squad that can confidently face the dates on the world calendar safe in the knowledge that it can
compete at the top level. The green-blue team has built up a group of tenacious and reliable riders around Ivan Basso and Vincenzo Nibali, the team’s key players, and these riders are ready to help their captains to win the Tour, the Giro and the Vuelta. Meanwhile Liquigas-Cannondale’s “green” team will take the next step towards securing the world of cycling. Peter Sagan, Daniel Oss, Jacopo Guarnieri, Elia Viviani, Kristijan Koren and Davide Cimolai have been joined by Eros Capecchi, Damiano Caruso and Dominik Nerz: they have the job of thrilling the fans and showing that the future of cycling is safe.
So all the foundations have now been laid for the team to enjoy a season at the top. The Liquigas-Cannondale team has set itself the goal of being a leader, wherever and whenever. They are determined never to be fully satisfied with what they have achieved and this drives them on to always strive for a better performance while living up to the principles that symbolise cycling. «I don’t doubt that we’ll give the others a run for their money, » concluded Amadio. «We’ll try to be a shining example of what a team should be and accomplish the best sports results through sacrifice and hard work.
