The "Mihai Viteazu" Memorial Church, Alba Iulia by Calin Suteu

(EN) | Located on the southernmost part of the Vauban fortress of Alba Iulia the church was built beginning with 1988 and was baptized in 1992. It is dedicated to the memory of the first Ortodox Metropolitan Church raised by Mihai Viteazu in 1597 and demolished by the Habsburgic authorities in 1714. It was built entirely in wood, following the traditional "Maramures" style and is dedicated to the Holy Trinty.

(RO) | Situată la extremitatea sudică a fortificaţiei Vauban de la Alba Iulia, biserica a fost construită în anul 1988 (sfinţită la 1992) ca şi simbol al primei Mitropolii Ortodoxe a Ardealului, ctitorită de Mihai Viteazu în 1597 şi demolată de autorităţile Habsburgice la 1714. Este construită din lemn în stil tradiţional maramureşan şi poartă hramul „Sfânta Treime”.
