Santa Barbara Audubon's "2010 Christmas bird count" (I would prefer Winter Solstice as a more astronomically related day) was held on January 1, 2011 and there were a unusually large number of Brown Pelicans, Heermann's Gulls, western grebes, and others hanging out on or near this beach waiting for a storm to come in. If only the dog owners would keep them on a leash to prevent harrassment of the birds. They probaby watched the "Dean Spanley" movie and want to relive their past lives?
