Description

This is perhaps the Arthrobotrys Anamorph of Orbilia auricolor.
The conidia prey on Arthropods and Invertebrates. In this case, conidia and apothecia grow on the inner side of detached bark, yet attached to decaying but still standing logs and branches of Beech trees (Fagus sylvatica).

This is an absolutely fantastic 3D image! The focus stacking allows for incredible depth of field, and there is actually so much stuff to look at! Please check this out in this Auto-Aligned Zero Convergence Error Anaglyph Stereo Viewer at www.3dpan.org/3d/65778-65777-90-90  Will open in a new tab or window
