This well is 350 yards from the camera. The woman who gave me permission to shoot on her property lives in the house on the left. She told me the land was once her farm and that her husband also worked in a steel mill. She said life was hard then, but also hard now. She received money for leasing gas rights but will not receive further payments until several more wells are drilled on that site above her house. On this bright fall day, the well looked like a calendar shot for the gas industry, with flags snapping in the breeze.
