Lovett Hall is named in honor of Edgar Odell Lovett, the first president of Rice Institute. This panorama was taken on a Sunday afternoon in late October.
Note: This panorama can be seen in Google Earth as a beautiful curved panorama on a curved surface by clicking the link, View in Google Earth.
This hand-held panorama was taken with a Nikon D7000 using a Nikkor 18-105 f/3.3-5.6 G ED lens and was stitched using the GigaPan Stitcher software. Additional information can be seen in Stitcher Notes.
A similar view, also a 360 (comprided of 36 photos versus 14 photos for this panorama), can be seen here, which was taken with a Leica D-Lux 3: www.gigapan.org/gigapans/37161/

(1) There were some that were going to start working at the table and they were expecting a number of off-campus visitors, but they steped away for a few moments; and knowing that cars would be parking in front of Lovett (after I took the 14 photos and walked away, cars began arriving), I took the photos and (2) I too was surprised to see so few if any students walking around; however, this week may be a week that has many tests and everyone was deep in study. Myself, I have a calculus test this Saturday and should be sleeping or studying versus writing GigaPan prose at 3AM, but you know how that is ... I mean having the GigaPan addiction :)

It must have been a very quiet day for you not to have found a charming Rice coed to pose in the panorama.
