This scene was taken from the shoreline along where the Rabbit Railroad used to run, at Gate 35 in the Quabbin Reservoir. The water is very low, even for the fall. Normally these islands are quite distinct and don't show the surrounding sand. This was taken with a Nikon D3x, about 15 images. This image is copyright (c) 2010 James M. Hunt, all rights reserved. This first snapshot by JJ is definitely a boat. Great catch. That boat was a long way in the distance. I believe it was a State Police boat the patrols the waters of the Reservoir, though it was so far away, it could have been a fishing boat as well.
