Early morning view of Moraine Park at Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado during late Fall 2010. Longs Peak (14,259' elevation) and neighboring The Dove glacier appear slightly left of center.
Moraine Park is a valley formed thousands of years ago when glaciers settled between two mountain ridges (known as "moraines") and pushed the ridges apart to form a valley Today, the Thompson River flows through this valley and it is home to one of the largest elk populations in the park.
