Alluvial fan in Rocky Mountain National Park (see view from distance in gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=5582).
Deposited in a single large flood event (1982? - can't recall). The size of the sediments (the boulders!) is a testament to the strength of that flood. My focus isn't the best here, but just learning to use the robotic mount - wish I could take this pan again now that I've seen it so the focus was on the distant bridge and rocks rather than on the not-so-distant shrubs.
Look up close and you'll find many other GigaPan-ers amongst the scenery.
The remainder of the fan (across the road - over the bridge at the right edge of the pan) is in gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=5813
