Description

Grinnell, Gem, and The Salamander Glacier from the foot of Upper Grinnell Lake, Glacier National Park, Montana. Grinnell Glacier filled this entire basin in the early 1900s, but the glacier today is a thin remnant that clings to the headwall along the Continental Divide. Grinnell Glacier has become an iconic symbol of climate change because of the many images that exemplify the glacier's sensitivity to the warming climate.
