What may also have added to the confusion is the collection of comments regarding Wendy's Winter Light Gigapan (www.gigapan.org/gigapans/42462/ ), where we were discussing Keck Hall and Howard Keck and his daughter, Alice Keck Park, but in her case, Park was her married name and in the case of Elizabeth Baldwin Park; well, Park is a Park ... you know what I mean ... right?

Ah yes, that was it. I remembered there being an interesting back story concerning the lady after whom the park/garden was named.

I was thinking the same thing you were, that Alice is the name of a Rice Institute or Rice President's wife's name but you and I may be thinking of this lady (Elizabeth Baldwin Park: www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id= 33662 ); however, the Garden is named for the late president of the Garden Club of Houston, Alice Staub Liddell and a very interesting document can be D/L via this link: tinyurl.com/Rice-AliceGarden  Will

Who is/was "Alice"? I have a vague recollection that the founder's wife was called Alice?
