    Hi, Well, it can not be seen but the wires on both chains are physically disconnected - the old wires are cut, the new ones are not connected yet. The power for the other chains are turned off and the metal structure is grounded, so it was perfectly safe to work on. If you consider the forces you can see that the ladder is almost as stable as if it were on a stable ground, so it is ok mechanically too.
