Ron, the Floodwood/Rollins/Saranac area looks like the best place in the world to be a boy scout. I never had the pleasure, but it turns out that Adirondack canoe camping is wonderful for old men too. Loons, pines, huckleberries, campfires, and J-strokes are a great combination.

I'm very, very jealous, Chris. I did my boy scout summer camp at Floodwood in the Adirondacks and we did 50-miler canoe trips from the Rollins Pond canoe base out as far as the State Locks between Middle and Lower Saranac Lakes. And it was just about this time of year, too. Boy, do I want to get back there!
