Little Tupper Lake, in the Adirondack Mountains, from atop the esker. Mature red pines (Pinus resinosa), some two centuries old, some with fire scars, dominate the esker to the left, and its continuation at the far end of the curving beach. To the right is a peat bog formed where the esker partitioned off a shallow part of the lake basin. The bog can be seen here: gigapan.org/gigapans/55377/.
