No, we used Autopano Giga for this (www.kolor.com/image-stitching-soft
ware-autopano-giga.html ). It took about one
week to finish on a Core i7 930 @ 3.5GHz with 12GB
RAM. The "Smartblend"-function of
Autopano Giga was the most timeconsuming. I think
that Gigapan Stich would have done it in 2-3 days,
but not as good as Autopano Giga.
How did you shoot this? it looks like you've
manually positioned the camera and focused at each
point, which must have taken an insane amount of
work for 4000 images

Yes we did shoot this manually. And yes it took an insane amount of time. Thats why we bought the Gigapan Epic Pro :D
