This is an abandoned roman catholic church on Larimer Avenue, between Broad St & East Liberty Boulevard in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

The scale of this panorama is severely exaggerated... the church is actually tall and skinny with soaring steeples, but in this pano, the steeples appear squat.

I have been unable to find out anything on the internet about this church, but I find it really fascinating.

Mj : I attended that Ghost Church & went to the grade school that may still be in the back of the property. My mother's 1st generation Italian family settled not far from the church. I have a commemorative book my mother gave me when the church was closed on October 25, 1992. You may be able to contact the Diocese of Pgh. to obtain a copy if they still exist. The bishop at the time was a Anthony Bevilacqua. The rose window was a spectacular vision along with all the stained glass murals & statues. I don't know what ever happened to the statues & silver & gold plates that adorned the altars. My mother was baptised, confirmed & married in that church. She was truly dedicated to that place & it's people of the time. I remember her telling me that some Black evangelical group had claimed some rights to the building after it was decommisioned as a Catholic Church yet from the looks of things they are long gone. Thanks for the pictures it surely brings back a lot of memories. I have always wondered what happened to that church.

I'm pretty sure that's the church from the Kevin Smith movie Dogma.
