The lens was clean/spotless, there was a UV filter in the little holder, air was fairly clear too - was it camera shake or ISO (think it was 100ISO) that caused a little softness? Answers here please - or do you think this is sharp?

There are around 240 images in this pano. As far as how I got the Pro to handle the lens, er, I just put it on and balanced it as far as possible. Setting motors to rigid helped. I was apprehensive about burning the Pro's motors out, but it seemed to handle it without problems. I guess what may be significant is that the lens was more or less horizontal throughout the shot. The vertical field of view is less than 9ยบ. If we'd had to point up or down more than a few degrees then maybe I would have fried the Pro?

Kilgore661 is a meister and can figure out a way to use the Canon 600mm f4 on the Gigapan Pro. For all others users, you should not attempt to put a lens that is larger than a Canon 500mm f4 on the Gigapan Pro as you can destroy your imager and void your warranty. Three factors are important. One the mass of the lens. Two, the distribution of the mass and distribution as a radius from the center of the axii of rotation. Three, the ability to balance the mass as the pitch ( vertical angle ) changes. Ohh and number four... The ability to stay focused when everyone wants to approach you and touch your lens or talk to you ; )
