Imagain the imager by jay longson

This is a micro-gigapan of a small segment of the CCD (charge coupled device) image sensor from a Canon PowerShot G1. The CCD containes 3.34 mega pixels and the chip is approximately 8mm wide.

In the process of trying to convert the camera to be infrared sensitive by removing the IR filter I managed to accidently cut one of the ribbon cables :( but now I get to image it :)

This Gigapan is part of the macro/micro/nano GigaPan project, which is working to take large pictures of very small things.

This mosaic consists of 170 images.
