Taken from a rock cliff on the top of the Vishnu Schist overlooking our party's boats at Lower Bass Camp, a place that was the actual surface of the Earth at least 210 million years ago, if not 1.2 billion years ago. Just before shooting this image, I had spotted a Chuckwalla lizard, a huge North American iguana. I was hoping that he would be caught by the camera when he came back out. I haven't found him in the rocks yet, but maybe you will. This was the first stop on our morning hike from camp on our layover day at Lower Bass Camp.
