Description

Approx 270 degrees facing west from Arthurs seat over the Salisbury Crags in the foreground, the city centre and beyond.

Canon 500D + 55-250IS@250mm, approx 1000 images shot manually on a tilt/pan tripod to just about fit on a pair of 4GB SD cards. Lower resolution (wider angle) shots used to fill in parts of foreground and to square off edges.

Stitched with Autopano pro 2 over a couple of days. Edited for to merge the layers containing the different focal lengths and to tweak layers and sharpness over a few weeks. (2 hrs to load/save!) About 5 days to upload, partially due to the huge server slowdown the 45GP dubai picture caused.

For more high resolution panoramas, check my profile here, or my website at lifeinmegapixels.com Will open in a new tab or window for wallpapers, time-lapse photography and even more images.

And from what i gather the sort of focal lengths you are using (i.e ~400-500mm) is getting close to the limit of precision of the consumer level motorised heads as well. I have wondered how precise manual geared heads such has the manfrotto 410 are capable of being...
