Kilauea is one of five shield volcanoes that form the Island of Hawaii.
It is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth with lava continuously oozing from various locations sine 1983.

The sulfur dioxide gas plume of Halemaumau crater (gigapan.org/gigapans/48670/) is clearly visible within the larger Kilauea caldera in this panorama. The huge sloping cone along the horizon is the shield volcano Mauna Loa the most massive volcano on the planet.
