The Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden is part of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens (NTBG). The NTBG also has gardens on Kauai, at Lawai, on the south coast, and Limahuli Valley, near the end of the road on the north coast of Kauai. The headquarters of the NTBG is located at the Lawai Gardens. Both of the Kauai gardens are propagation centers for endangered Hawaiian plants, many of which have only a few individuals remaining in the wild (some are presumed extinct in the wild).
