It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, so I drove over to Ellis, KS looking for a nice subject to GigaPan. From the town campground just south of Big Creek I spotted this church and realized the sun was illuminating it quite nicely. In order to avoid getting the wires in the line of sight I set up directly beside a telephone pole and shot about a 180 degree view. You don't get to see Big Creek or the town campground from this vantage point, but I shot a fairly wide view in order to give some flavor of the surrounding neighborhood with the church as the centerpiece. I suspect this is locally quarried limestone, like many of the other churches of Ellis County, but I didn't get up close to take a look at its fossils.
