Square of the Heroes at Mamayev Hill, Volgograd, at 9 may 2005, 60 years after end of World War II.

In the center of the square there is a water pool size of which is 26,6x86m (22022). Mirror-like reflection of the water in there comes to be the symbol of the Volga. According to the idea of the authors, water, as the source of everything living on Earth, symbolizes inability to destroy life, celebration of its superiority over the forces of destruction and death.

On the right there is a wall which resembles an unfolded banner by its shape. All the way along this Banner Wall one can read these words carved in big relief letters: “Iron wind was blowing into their faces, but they kept advancing, and again and again the enemy was taken over by a superstitious feeling: were there really humans attacking them? Were they mortal?” The Banner Wall has the length of 112 m, and the height of 8 m.

To the left of the Square of the Heroes there are six monumental double-figured sculptural compositions, which reveal the heroism of the soviet people during the Stalingrad Battle.

В центре площади прямоугольный водный бассейн, размером 26,6х86 м (22022). Зеркальная гладь воды в бассейне является символом Волги, по замыслу авторов, вода, как источник всего живого на Земле, символизирует здесь неистребимость жизни, ее торжество над силами разрушения и смерти. Непосредственно к бассейну, с трех сторон четырехрядный амфитеатр, поверхность которого покрыта гранитом «брекчия», ступени гранитные.

Справа - стена, напоминающая по форме развернутое знамя. Вдоль всей Стены-Знамени, крупными рельефными буквами надпись: " Железный ветер бил им в лицо, а они все шли вперед, и снова чувство суеверного страха охватывало противника: люди ли шли в атаку, смертны ли они?". Стена-Знамя длиной 112 м, высотой 8 м.

С левой стороны на площади Героев расположены шесть монументальных двуфигурных скульптурных композиций, которые в художественной форме раскрывают героику подвига советского народа в Сталинградской битве.
