La Catedral de Caracas es el Templo principal, por su historia y ubicación, de la ciudad de Caracas, y sede la Arquidiócesis de Caracas; se encuentra ubicada en el centro histórico de la ciudad en la Parroquia Catedral del Municipio Libertador, junto a la reconocida Plaza Bolívar de Caracas.

Fue Construida en 1665 por Juan de Medina, en sustitución de la pequeña iglesia destruida en el terremoto de 1641; concluida en el año 1674. Su fachada es de 1771, obra de Francisco Andrés de Meneses. Dañada por el terremoto de 1812 su torre (que da nombre a una de las esquinas de Caracas) fue reducida en tamaño. En 1866 en su fachada se construye un frontispicio. En 1932 y los años 1960 se hacen obras de restauración y modificación en todo el templo. Destacan las coloniales capillas de la Trinidad (donde están los restos de los padres y esposa de Simón Bolívar), del Pópulo y la del Pilar.

Arquitectura
Es un Iglesia de planta basilical constituida por 5 naves: una central y dos menores a cada lado, la nave central esta separada de las laterales por columnas de sección ochavada con capitel compuesto, que sorportan arcadas de medio punto. El Altar mayor y retablo mayor están dentro del presbiterio situado al fondo de la nave central.

La torre del campanario consta de cuatro cuerpos y es de sección cuadrada; en el tercer cuerpo esta el campanario. La cara principal representa lo que se denomina fachada retablo. La Iglesia esta compuesta por elementos neoclásicos, y ostenta 3 cuerpos que dan a cuatro calles, Actualmente, existe en la torre un reloj que, además de campanadas, emite sonidos de varias canciones.

Caracas Cathedral is the main temple, its history and location, the city of Caracas, and headquarters of the Archdiocese of Caracas, is located in the historic city center in the Parish Cathedral of the Libertador Municipality, together with the recognized Plaza Bolivar in Caracas.

It was built in 1665 by Juan de Medina, in place of the small church destroyed in the earthquake of 1641, completed in 1674. Its facade is of 1771, the work of Francisco Andres Meneses. Damaged by the earthquake of 1812 the tower (which gives name to one of the corners of Caracas) was reduced in size. In 1866, its facade is constructed in a frontispiece. In 1932 and 1960 are the restoration and modification throughout the temple. Highlights the colonial chapels of the Trinity (where the remains of the parents and wife of Simón Bolívar), the popular and the Pillar.

Architecture
It is a basilica church consisting of 5 ships: one central and two smaller side, the central nave is separated from the aisles by octagonal columns with capitals section compound, which supports many arcades. The altar and reredos are within the sanctuary at the back of the nave.

The bell tower consists of four sections and is of square section, in the third body is the steeple. The main side represents what is called a retablo facade. The Church is composed of neoclassical elements, and holds 3 bodies giving four streets, currently exists in a clock tower, as well as chimes, beeps for several songs.
