Tenterden Kent on a rainy, cloudy and sunny plus bitterly cold day. All this in less than 15 minutes! My fingers were so cold I could hardly disengage the Lumix LX3 from the Gigapan machine!
This was a quick test to see how the Stitcher (and myself) might cope with varying weather conditions - sun/cloud/rain, shine, cold etc. I had to enlarge this file to get it uploaded on the Gigapan website (well - at least I'm experimenting). Hence I expect the detail will be less than brilliant.
Tenterden is generally so picturesque but I felt that it would make a good test - especially looking at it's worst and in bad weather conditions. Strange - as it doesn't really show how awful the weather was.
I also took a Gigapan with an AutoMate machine which is controlled with a pda. It took my Can 7D and a hefty 200mm zoom lens which I had fixed on a focal length of 150mm for the test. Unfortunately either my settings were duff or the machine decided it was too cold to work efficiently as it failed in several areas. Annoyingly it seemed to finish a row prematurely and there were other problems which I will not go into here before obtaining some feedback from AutoMate. I'm hoping my next test with Automate will be more successful - when the weather brightons up. I should be in Bristol on Friday or Saturday and Clifton Suspension Bridge might make a suitable subject...
