This is the beginning of a project documenting the restoration of a 18th Century Twine works in the UK. I have been shooting with a Canon G11 but have been having real problems fixing the focus, even set at the hyper focal distance the shots are still to soft.

I have tried to shoot at a shorter focal length to increase the depth of field but I am not convinced that this has helped. Today have tried shooting with the tripod at a lower advantage point to try to minimise the spherical distortion of the walk boards.

Thanks for looking

Hi Alex, I have the solution to your focus problems. I had the same issue with my G10. With the camera set on Manual Focus, you need to go to the cameras Menu and under the camera settings make sure that Safety MF is switched OFF. That should stop the camera over riding the focus that you have set. Great panorama by the way.
