This storm surge barrier was build between 1991 and 1997. It is part of the Deltaworks. It is made out of 2 giant doors that floot out to close of the Nieuwe Waterweg, the river that runs through
Rotterdam.
A computer decide
to close the barrier when a storm surge is predicted. Last november it closed for the first time in storm condintions.
