This mosaic of The Radcliffe Camera was taken with a Canon Powershot G10, in order to directly compare a gigapan taken with this camera with that taken with a Panasonic DMC-TZ7 from the same location. Because of the Canon's smaller zoom range, this image is half the size of the one taken with the TZ7.
Note that the TZ7 picture can be seen at the following link

Thanks for the feedback. i am just experimenting at the moment, and obviously will take more pictures with both cameras to get better comparison. However, my gut feeling is that the Canon's focal length at the long end is not really long enough for some of this stuff, especially when compared with the TZ7. Remembering that every extra optical surface in the light path will lose light, I don't really want to add any accessories (its more junk in the camera bag too!)

Hi Ian, I´d like to see the G10 set to ASA 80 (not 200) and the aperture set to f/4.5 (not f/6.3).

In defense of the G10, it gives you the ability to shoot in RAW. One of the accessory telephotos would give you a 35mm-equivalent focal length around 200mm (vs the Panasonic's 300mm) and excellent picture quality.
